Larry Fosnow, 79, of Windsor, Missouri, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 6, 2024 surrounded by family, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born December 26, 1944, in Windsor, Mo., the son of John William Fosnow and Laree Mae (Swisher) Fosnow. On November 11, 1967, he married Mary Ann Tope in Windsor, and she survives of the home. Of this union four children were born.
Larry graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963. He was in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Larry was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 101 for his entire career as a bulldozer and crane operator. He worked on many different heavy highway projects in the Kansas City area, retiring with Radmacher Brothers Excavating. He also helped with construction of different phases on the Truman Dam including the Visitor Center and the Mile Long Bridge in Warsaw. He attended Central States Auction School and operated Fosnow Auction & Realty for many years as an auctioneer and real estate broker. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had special nicknames for each of them. He was an avid reader and life-long learner. In retirement, he became a Master Gardner with a flourishing and ever adapting garden in the backyard. He was a devout Christian and was a member of Windsor Assembly.
In addition to his wife Mary Ann, other survivors include his 4 children, Lori Watson (Rick), Clinton, Mo, Clint Fosnow (Ashley), Greenwood, Mo, Jamie Fosnow (Chloe), Lee’s Summit, Mo and Dana Ballenger (Corey), Lee’s Summit, Mo, 10 grandchildren, Dakota Watson (Ashley), Makenna Hix (Jarrod), Vera Fosnow, Henry Fosnow, Charlotte Fosnow, Joey Fosnow, Jax Fosnow, Cayden Ballenger, Marley Ballenger, and Colt Ballenger; 1 great-grandson, Silas Hix, and a great grandchild on the way, Baby Watson; 3 brothers and 2 sisters, Linda Alcorn, Sedalia, Mo, Rick Fosnow (Diane), Windsor, Mo, Russ Fosnow (Alice), Windsor, Mo, Carol Sawyer (Don), Sedalia, Mo and Randy Fosnow (Cindy), Sedalia, Mo, a brother-in-law, Gary White, Derby, KS, a sister-in-law, Gloria Fosnow; an Aunt, Helen Henderson (Tyler), Kansas City, Mo; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 1 sister, Marilyn White and 2 brothers, Bob Fosnow and Bill Fosnow; brother-in-law, Norman Alcorn, sister-in-law, Connie Fosnow and nephew, Jeff Fosnow, his father-in-Iaw and mother-in-law, Verne and Vera Tope.
Funeral services were 2:30 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Windsor Assembly in Windsor, MO with Pastor Murlin Anstine and Pastor Regina Hix officiating. Burial was in Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family received friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
