Lawanna “Lou” Young, age 89, of Deepwater, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri.
Lou was born on May 12, 1935 in Noel, Missouri to ben and Ethel (Chrisman) Cantrell. She married Walter Young Jr. on June 8 1966. Lou attended Calhoun Methodist Church for many years until she was unable. She worked as a Secretary for Clark Forklift Company in the city before moving back to their Deepwater farm. Lou was the caretaker for Deepwater Cemetery for many years and she was a caregiver to numerous families in the area for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Walter Young Jr., her parents, her two brothers James Cantrell and John Cantrell, her two sisters, Edith Batson, and Ethel May Lett, her two sons Joe Young and John Young and grandchildren Chris Young, Andy Young and Holly Witherspoon.
Survivors include her 5 children David (Debbie)Garcia, Gary (Loretta) Young, Pete (Mary) Young, Dena Young and Susan Witherspoon, 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and daughter-in-law Janet Young.
Funeral services were held December 18, 2024 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Rev. David Mills officiating. Special music included “On the WIngs Of a Dove and Old Rugged Cross.” The casket bearers were Clint Young, Brian Witherspoon, Robert Wharton, Kenny Witherspoon, Tracy Young and Justin Austin. Interment was in Deepwater Cemetery, Deepwater, MO.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
