Lewis Ray Moreland, 66, passed away at his home in Clinton, MO on Thursday, December 25, 2025 after a brief battle with esophageal cancer.
“Lewie”, as he was affectionately known to many, was born Sept. 18, 1959 in Independence, Mo., just three minutes after his twin sister, Sharon Kay. His parents were Arley Lewis Moreland and Verna Elaine Moreland.
The family moved to Clinton, Mo when he was a toddler, and he spent the remainder of his life there. He participated in baseball, football and Scouting as a youth.
A 1977 graduate of Clinton High School, he later attended Southeast Missouri State University. At the age of 21, he began what would be a 36-year career with Kansas City Power & Light Company.
Lewis never met a stranger and made friends easily. He was a member of Clinton Elks Lodge #1034 and Clinton Country Club. He enjoyed smoking meats, gardening, golfing, taking care of his 30 acre property and watching game shows.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Moreland; a son, Matthew Moreland of Kansas City, Mo; two sisters, Leigh Paul (Tom) of Clinton, Mo. and Sharon Fantz of Grain Valley, Mo; brother-in-law, Norman Goth (Nancy) of Springfield, Mo; sisters-in-law, Elaine Goth of Florida and Brenda Meaney (Ed) of Texas; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Diana Moreland.
Memorial services were held December 31, 2025 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Rev. David Mills officiating. Inurnment to follow in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, MO.
