Lincoln Putting Final Touches On Balloon Glow, Fall Market

Posted

A group of enthusiastic planners met in the Brethower Building on Tuesday, August 13 to put together game plans for the upcoming Fall Market/Balloon Glow/Strongman events hosted by the Lincoln Chamber on Saturday, September 14.

This is the fourth year for the highly popular Balloon Glow in the town of Lincoln. Several changes have been made to keep the event fresh and fun for all ages.
The logo sponsors for the 2024 happening are Producer’s Exchange, Balloon Sponsor; Co-Mo Connect, Band sponsor; Equity Bank, Petting Zoo and Pony Ride sponsor. The Platinum sponsors are Community National Bank and State Fair Community College.

Dorcas Brethower is the overall chairwoman and has spoken to the Balloon people about inflating the balloons a bit earlier and hopefully offer tethered rides for $15 per person, weather permitting. Those will be paid for at the event with no pre-sales offered.

The gates at Hare Park will open at 1:30 PM and the market vendors will begin selling at 2:00 PM. Also at 2:00 PM, the beer tent opens and the petting zoo/pony rides will begin.

By 3:00 PM, the Strongman/woman competition gets underway. This segment of the day is sponsored by the Benton County Extension Office and gives everyone with a competitive streak a chance to flex their muscles. By 4:00 PM, the cornhole tournament gets underway with Karaoke in the beer tent.

At 5:00 PM, balloons will be inflated and tethered rides offered, weather permitting. At 8:00 PM, the band will begin performing in the Beer Tent until 11:00 PM.

There will not be a sit-down dinner offered this year to free up that area for attendees to wander closer to the actual balloon locations. There will be food options offered by the various food truck vendors. If anyone has questions, contact Dorcas Brethower (660) 723-0061 or djbrethower@gmail.com
