Marcheta Mae Bartlett, age 99, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Adair Village in Clinton, Missouri.
Marcheta Mae (Doan) Bartlett was born February 4, 1927 to Glen and Inez Doan on a farm NE of Clinton. Marcheta loved the Lord and was baptized at a early age. She later moved to LaDue where her father operated a garage, and her mother was a homemaker, doing canning and housework. Marcheta helped with home chores and taking up canning to help her mother. She also enjoyed her free time walking to a friend, Betty Batchelett's house, on T Hwy.
She was quite the tomboy climbing trees and playing with cousin, Shirley May. At age 16, in 1943, she worked on the railroad becoming a "Jenny" cutting weeds and tamping ties. The men were at war so women had to work. On September 15, 1945 Joseph (Pete) and Marcheta were married and worked in various towns before settling in Clinton. Pete worked for Ortner Poultry Farms. After leaving there he went to work for MFA Oil where Marcheta was his secretary answering phones and taking orders.
Her interests involved sewing and crafts and arts of various kinds. Always being with family and friends was her joy. Pete and Marcheta would often play cards, mainly Canasta, although Marcheta didn't get a thrill playing. She did so for Pete. Marcheta loved car rides on pretty days. When a call would come, Marcheta was always ready to help a friend, relative or neighbor. Angel food cakes were her specialty, and she took orders for those from many people. Family was #1. She loved being supportive of kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. When health failed she went to Adair Village where she resided until the Lord called her home. She loved her nurses that cared for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph D, son-in-law Jeffery Simonsen, and a grandson Travis Bartlett.
Survivors include daughter Janet Simonsen, son Perry Bartlett (Sylvia), grandson Dustin Bartlett (Amanda), granddaughter Tessa Fromson (Jake), great-granddaughters Lily & Ava Bartlett, her brother Linville Doan as well as many nieces and nephews & friends.
