Maurine June Dehn, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City, Missouri.
Maurine June Dehn was born on October 15, 1927 to Thomas Lee and Verna (Ramsey) Montgomery, on a farm near Creighton, Missouri. June’s early education began at Bunker Hill, a one room rural school near her family’s farm. She then attended Creighton and graduated from Creighton High School in the class of 1945. That following summer June attended Central Missouri State Teachers College (now UCM) and received her teaching certificate. Her first teaching job was at Willow Branch where she taught for two years.
On August 2, 1946 June was united in marriage to George Elmer Dehn. June and Elmer lived with Elmer’s parents Walter A. and Eva (Mansfield) Dehn until March 1, 1947 when they moved to their farm west of Deepwater, Missouri. To their union two sons were born, Walter Lee and Tommy Lynn Dehn.
June was an active member of the Deepwater Community Club, a den mother for Cub Scouts, 4-H leader teaching sewing and cooking, decorated wedding cakes for her family friends, taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon at the Deepwater Labor Harvest Picnic committee and was honored to be the Grand Marshal of the Deepwater Labor-Harvest Picnic Parade in 2004.
June worked at Rival Manufacturing Company for 8 years and was often called the best cook on the line when it came to their potluck meals. June’s last job as a door greeter at Wal-Mart, it was a perfect fit for her friendly, outgoing personality; she truly loved talking to people.
June was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Elmer, her parents, brother Francis Lee Montgomery, sister Laverne (Montgomery) O’Bannon, brother and sister-in-law’s Lesther and Ruth Dehn, Wilma and Ike Parker, and June’s father and mother –in-law, Walter and Eva Dehn.
She is survived by her sons Wally (Donna) and Tom (Brenda) all of Clinton, 5 grandchildren Nancy Dehn, Andrea (Jason) Briggs, Jordan (Melanie) Dehn, Aaron (Emily) Dehn, and Brook Hook, 14 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, her nieces Beverly Bowers, Glenda Hann, Carol Lloyd, Betty Tucker, and nephew Roy Dehn, along with many great nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.
Funeral services were held May 17, 2025 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Pastor Aaron Johnson officiating. Special music included “Old Rugged Cross and In the Garden” with Bill McCoy as vocalist. The casket bearers were Aaron Dehn, Walker Dehn, Jordan Dehn, Aaron McClure and Brad Combs. Interment followed in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Mo.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
