Patricia Chiles, age 82, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 at The Rehabilitation Center of Independence, Missouri.
Patricia Chiles was born on January 28, 1942 in Kansas City, Kansas to Ernest and Alma Rockwell. Patricia grew up in Holden, Missouri where she met Marcus Mullen whom she married in 1959. Six children were born of this marriage, Chris (Della) Mullen of Eudora, Kansas, Mike (Shelly) Mullen of Urich, Missouri, Tim Mullen of Clinton, Missouri, Jeff (Pam) Mullen of Pennsylvania, Mark Mullen of Archie, Missouri, Tamara Herdman (Mark Prater) of Kansas City, Missouri.
Patricia loved spending time with family. Growing up in Holden Patricia raised chickens, sold eggs and had a passion for animals. She took in strays and raised orphaned raccoons, squirrels, opossums and any critter that was in need. Patricia was a kind hearted soul who loved the Lord. She attended Save Our World Ministries, was a valued member of the board and who was loved by many. Pastor Brown was an important part of her walk with the Lord.
Patricia married Ted Dearston in 2008 and he preceded her in death in 2009. Patricia met and fell in love with her current husband Daniel Chiles in 2015, they were married in 2020, and he is going to miss her greatly.
Patricia is also survived by her six children, 23 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and numerous extended family members. Patricia was a friend to everyone she met and had love in her heart for all God’s people.
Patricia was preceded in death by a grandson Matthew Parker, a granddaughter Jennifer Baker, her brother Joe Rockwell and her sister Dorothy Hamilton.
Patricia suffered from dementia in the last stages of her life and was living with her daughter Tamara Herdman and her life partner Mark Prater who cared for her till she passed.
Funeral services were held November 22, 2025 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Pastor Gene Gann officiating. Special music included “Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace and In the Garden.” The casket bearers were Richard Mullen, Christopher Mullen, Joseph Mullen, Daniel Parker, Jonathon Mullen, Timothy Mullen, Jr. and Tony Mullen. Interment followed in Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, MO.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
