Shirley Jean Qualls, age 81, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the St Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
Born on July 29, 1943, Shirley dedicated 35 years as a compassionate OB/GYN LPN triage nurse, touching the lives of countless families with her care.
Shirley graduated from Pleasant Hill High School and was deeply rooted in family and faith-based values. She embodied a spirit of generosity and care throughout her life, always putting her family and others first.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jack D. Qualls; her son, Jackie D. Qualls and his wife Lisa; her daughter, Kimberly Beaty and her husband Matt; her sister, Patty Ragsdale; and her cherished grandchildren, Zachary Qualls, Samantha Patton (Dexter), Lacy Beaty, Miranda Beaty, and Chelsea Beaty. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Thelma Ragsdale, and her brother, Donald Ragsdale.
Shirley’s life was a testament to her kind and bighearted nature. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton, MO, where she found great joy in her faith and community. Shirley welcomed life’s simple pleasures; she was an avid knitter and loved baking with her grandchildren. Vacations, especially those spent with the grandchildren in Branson, MO, were treasured. Her favorite pastime was cheering on the KC Royals with her husband.
Shirley’s life was a reflection of her values: kindness, family, and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and dedicated care.
A Celebration of Life was held October 30, 2024 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Rev. David Mills officiating. Inurnment was in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
