William (Butch) Witherspoon

William (Butch) Witherspoon, age 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2025 at his home in Clinton, Missouri surrounded by his family.
William (Butch) was born on February 2, 1954, in Clinton, Missouri to William James (Buster) and Ruby May Witherspoon. Butch was united in marriage to Velva King in 1972 and from that marriage was one son Adam Witherspoon. They later divorced in 1991. Butch went on to marry Victoria Kemp; they divorced in 2009.
Butch loved to devote his time to the Lord and did so through his musical talents. Butch would attend services from Clinton to Windsor to provide music for services. He enjoyed going to Christian retreats with his sisters when the time allowed. Butch enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed going to Kansas to see his son Adam and help set up for the annual concert at the Cornstock Festival for many years. He also enjoyed going to the Grand Prix in Garnett with Adam and his Grandson Chance. Family meant the world to Butch as did his faith. As Butch would say “God has me”.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Sister Louella Blanche Witherspoon, Brother Ricky Wayne Witherspoon, and Brother-in-Law Junior Shockley.
Survivors are his son Adam and wife Gina Witherspoon of Garnett, KS, Daughter Alaina Witherspoon, of Clinton MO, 5 Grandchildren Brook Witherspoon of Clinton, MO, Madeline Witherspoon of Nevada, MO, and Reese, Reagan and Chance Witherspoon of Garnett, KS, 4 Great Grandchildren Manaia, Huxlee, Coiyer and Rhett. Sister Jackie Shockley of Clinton MO, Sister Sandy Morrison of Atchison KS, Sister Deborah and Husband Jack Anspaugh of Clinton MO, and Brother Jerry and Wife Dee Witherspoon of Clinton, MO as well as countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services were held April 4, 2025 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Pastor Scott Marchbanks officiating. The casket bearers were Joe Hicks, Tracy Witherspoon, Michael Witherspoon, Tyler Turner, Chance Witherspoon, Chuck Garrison, Ervin Turner and Greg Morrison. Interment followed in Vansant Road Cemetery, Clinton, MO.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
