Wilma “Jerry” Johnson, 83, of Windsor, Missouri, passed away, Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.
Wilma was born in Clinton, Missouri, the daughter of Hershel Walter and Opal May (Sheek) Steward. She grew up in Clinton, where she later married the love of her life, Freddie Johnson. Wilma devoted much of her life to caring for others and worked for many years at Westwood Nursing Home, where her compassion touched countless residents and families.
She enjoyed a simple, fulfilling life surrounded by the people and things she loved most. Wilma spent many happy hours playing cards with friends and family, crocheting, and working on her ultra punch projects. She cherished the company of her loyal dog, Raven, who truly was like one of her own children. And no matter the occasion, you could always count on her having a warm cup of coffee in hand.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Johnson; her sister, Lorene Steward; and her brothers, Clifford, Shelby, and Harold Steward.
She is survived by her brother, James Steward of Kansas City; her daughter, Sara Ryles of Calhoun; her two sons, James Johnson of Kansas City; Scott(Dani) Johnson of Holden; her nephew, Ronnie Steward, who was like a son to her; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
During her final months at home, Wilma was lovingly cared for by her niece, Kay Stevens, for which the family is deeply grateful.
Wilma will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and deep love for her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 28, 2025 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton with David Mills officiating. Special music included "Old Rugged Cross and Go Rest High." The casket bearers were Roy Goucher, Don Limback, Joey Cooper, David Baker and Jeremy Kampe. Interment followed in Vansant Road Cemetery, Clinton, MO.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
