Windsor High School Sports Report

Posted

It was another busy week for Greyhounds athletics as all three sports were in action. The cross-country team participated in a meet in Sedalia. The football squad traveled to Tipton. And the volleyball girls had three contests.
Cross-Country - The cross-country kids had their sole meet of the week last Saturday as they participated in the Smith-Cotton Tiger Invitational. It was a mix of different size schools with Windsor being one of the smallest in the field. Jefferson City Helias won both the boys and girls divisions. An early morning rain left made the course a muddy run.
Windsor’s boys team finished ninth in the team competition. Joshua Pritt placed twentieth in the race and established a new school record. Connor Bishop was the next Black & Gold runner with a thirtieth-place effort. The Windsor girls placed sixth. The top two Windsor runners were Lily Betsworth (27TH place) and Izzy Henderson (33rd) in the sixty-runner field.
Football – The Greyhounds lost their first game of the year dropping an 18-0 decision to Tipton. The Cardinals got on the scoreboard on their first drive and led 6-0. They would not score again until the third frame when they scored again on another long pass and then returned an interception for a score. Windsor had several opportunities inside the red zone but were shut out by the state-ranked Cardinals.
Volleyball – The Lady Greyhounds first two contests of the week were away matches. Windsor lost by 3-0 scores to both Chilhowee and Cole Camp. On Thursday they hosted Lincoln and defeated the Cardinals 3-1.
