The Clinton Christian Academy boys junior high team recently competed in the St. Peter basketball tournament in Marshall, MO. CCA played its first game of the tournament against St. Andrew from Tipton, MO. Despite the defense of Abram Dody and Hadley Hyke against the St. Andrew’s post play, CCA fall 31-30. Parker Lowe led the way with 18 points. The team then faced the task to play three games in five hours to battle back from the loser side of the tournament bracket. CCA started off by defeating Applewood from Sedalia, MO by a score of 41-24. They then faced the home team St. Peter and had trouble getting their offense under way. The press of the Patriots kept St. Peter off the score board and CCA finally made some shots in the second half to pull away for a 28-14 win to get the opportunity to face St. Andrew again in the championship game.
The Patriots had 12 players contribute on Saturday and were all needed as the legs started to tire in the last game. The Patriots shot the ball well with Raymond Hood leading the way with timely backets from Kyler Foley and Isaac Curnutte. CCA led 22-12 at half and never let up in a 39-28 victory.
CCA then defeated Bethel from Grandview on Tuesday night to improve the season record 12-2 including a 5-1 record in the Mo Kan Junior High Conference. The team will begin preparations for its own CCA tournament and Mo Kan Junior High Tournament to finish the season. Team members include Kyler Foley, Josh Largent, Isaac Curnutte, Collin Higgins, Parker Lowe, Oliver Mosley, Jake Williams, Gauge Schlagle, Hadley Hyke, Abram Dody, Raymond Hood, and Conan Spring.
