Calhoun UMC
Welcome to the Good News from Calhoun United Methodist. We were pleased to gather in fellowship and love, to praise the Lord with church family and guests. We ring the church bell at 9:45 to call the
“flock” to 10:00 Worship. Our service is live-streamed for face book.
Our Sympathy and Christian love are extended to the family and friends of Hank Taylor who passed into the arms of Jesus last week. Others on the prayer list include Billie Vanslyke, Pat Myers, Kyle Houts, Brenda Hunter, Earl Gumm, Macayla Lowe and baby, Bob Burson and family and Dave Burson. We continue to pray for those suffering in Ukraine and those who are trying to get them relief. We pray for our church families, for our great country and its leaders, for our men and women in service. Special prayers, for police officers nationwide; who are censored by the politically correct for trying their best to protect the public. In Gods eyes we are living in a very twisted world.

What is Faith? In Hebrews 11, faith is described as a confidence we hope for, or an assurance that we do not see. General faith refers to things we tend to expect, such as assuming the brakes in a car will slow the car. This faith is not always foolproof, but Biblical faith is. Biblical faith is walking in the promises God has made known, rather than taking a blind leap into the unknown. Christianity is a seeing faith, which we may have in all things in life, big and small, when we remain focused on Jesus. Pastor Pat Findley challenged us to be still, surrender and to trust Him enough to respond.
For those who have experienced grief or mourning, GriefShare is held on Thursdays from 6-8 pm at FBC’s Vansant location. Celebrate Recovery is on Tuesday evening, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at 1531 N. “Build A Perfect Temple For The Lord”
1 Corinthians 3:16-17. (KJV)
“Perfection” is that one word both Christians and Non Christians tend to agree on. Both groups say, “ nobody’s perfect”.
God gave Nehemiah and Solomon specific instructions on how to build his temple. As we begin to work and rebuild our own temple, God will instruct us also.
As we build our temple, (our body) it is something we continue to make improvements on through our lifetime.
As Nehemiah worked to rebuild God’s temple, we saw where people tried to hinder his work (Nehemiah 4:8-9 KJV)
The enemy will do this to us as we work on our personal temple.
You have to keep God’s hedge of protection around you because he will see you through. If you defile your temple you have to begin again to rebuild it. Keep in mind the devil is always lurking to demolish what you build. We have to make repairs and remodel our temple because it belongs to God.
We have to keep our foundation solid and strong. It is the most important part of the structure.(Ephesians 2:19-21)
It is important to know how our temple is to be ready for his coming.(Ephesians 6:25-27)
Eph 5:27. (KJV)
Everyone of us wants to make it to heaven. Our ticket for this trip is to be without spot, blemish, or wrinkle.
We are not to have any defects or stains.
We are to be perfect. Understand, perfection in God’s sight is not perfection in man’s sight. We will never be perfect in the sight of man. We can be perfect in God’s sight. He has a love and mercy that man does not have.
2 Peter 3:8-14
If you want to make it to heaven you have to do what the Bible says. He will come as a thief in the night. No one knows the hour or day of his return. We must be ready.
God Bless.

A great turn-out on Sunday before Valentine’s Day. Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano. We rejoiced with Pastor Chad and Cinasee Pollett on their 4th wedding anniversary. We also rejoiced with Sherry Vogt and Sandra Keeney on their birthdays. Randy Vogt and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
The scripture passage from Pastor Chad Pollett’s sermon was from John 6:16-21. In this passage Jesus told his Disciples to get in the boat and go to Capernaum. Jesus then went up the mountain to pray. After the Disciples had rowed for a long time they saw Jesus walking on the sea towards them. The Disciples were scared, but Jesus told them it was He and not to be afraid. Immediately the boat landed on shore in Capernaum. The Disciples realized the miracle. It was truly obvious to them that all power and authority was with Jesus. If we remain faithful in Jesus we will be blessed with eternal life
