Holy Rosary Highlights

Posted

Holy Rosary 7th and 8th grade students have been busy actively engaging their minds in academics as well as organizing several community service projects. This month, students had the opportunity to dissect owl pellets as a fun and scientific way to learn about owl habitats, including the owl food chain in Missouri. Vocabulary.com is another tool that students have been using daily in the classroom to increase their vocabulary in academic writing as well as their everyday language. For the month of January, Holy Rosary (7th and 8th grade) is in first place for Division 3 schools in Missouri with 12,171 questions answered and 681 words mastered! Students also excelled in writing, as Ali Schaffer (1st), Bella Beck (2nd), and Kaysen Nold (3rd), placed in the top 3 winners in the VFW’s Patriot’s Pen writing contest.
Christmas community service projects are one of the many facets of student education at Holy Rosary, and 7th and 8th-grade students have excelled at this too. Over 30 lap blankets were designed for the senior citizens in our area, as well as organizing the annual Holy Rosary Christmas Angel Tree. Maintaining the concession stand at school for the Optimist Club basketball games is one more way in which 7th and 8th-grade students enjoy learning. This month, students will be organizing a food drive for our local food pantry.
There are many more great things to come! In April this group will be traveling to Washington D.C. At Holy Rosary we believe travel is for everyone and what better way to learn about American history and civics is to go see it in action. When students go beyond the classroom it brings education to life, unlocks new potential, and opens a world of possibilities.
