Robert Joseph Hake, 86, from Lee’s Summit, Missouri entered into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on January 19, 2023, surrounded by family after a brief illness.
Robert, Bob as he was called, was born on May 21, 1936, in Germantown, Missouri to Joseph A. Hake and Veronica W. (Richter) Hake. He had many stories about growing up on the farm, but some of his fondest were of his horse Sonny. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. Bob also loved to dance and especially looked forward to going out to visit friends at the Post and light up the dance floor.
He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1958, where he made many lifelong buddies.
Bob was a valued General Motors employee retiring in 1989 after 30 years of dedicated service. He also retired from Adesa Auto Auction after 28 years of loyal service.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Fern Hake, brother Richard Hake, and brother James Hake. He is survived by his children, Lisa Atkinson (Mike) of Kansas City, MO, Darren Hake of Greenwood, MO, and Jason Hake of Kansas City, MO, and his grandchildren Rachel Atkinson and Raegan Atkinson of Kansas City, MO, in addition to sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Bob cared deeply for his family and will be greatly missed.
Funeral mass was held January 27, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Montrose, MO with Father Jason Kock officiating. Special music was performed by Sue Smith, organist, and Carol McEwan, vocalist, along with members of the church choir. Mike Atkinson, Dennis Cook, J.R. Lloyd, Shawn Brownsberger, Alex Engeman and John Engeman were pallbearers. Interment followed in St. Ludger Cemetery, Germantown, MO. Military honors were under the direction of the US Marines and VFW Post #8820.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
