Robert Lee Rhoads, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at his home in Clinton, Missouri.
Robert Lee Rhoads “Buck” was born in Clinton, MO on February 21, 1948 to Lovell (Todd) Rhoads and Howard George Rhoads. Buck was 1 of 6 children who were all raised in a loving family and brought up in the First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his 3 older brothers, James (Jim), Harold (Dusty), and Ray, an older sister, Catherine, and younger sister, Pamela (Pam). Buck is survived by his son, Geoffrey Todd Rhoads, who was his pride and joy, and many nieces and nephews who adored him immensely.
Growing up and throughout his life, Buck liked to spend his time outdoors hunting, fishing, playing baseball, golfing, watching all sports and going to the lake. Buck was drafted for Vietnam and went to Seattle where he served 2 years in the army. After his time spent in the military he came home and began work at Peabody Coal where he worked until they later closed down. Buck then began his venture into trim carpentry where he proved to be quite talented and meticulous. Buck was involved with the local Freemasonry as well as the Shriners.
Buck lived and loved life. His most outstanding attribute was his sense of humor. Buck never knew a stranger and his light hearted demeanor was infectious. To know him was to love him. Buck was a hero to many as he battled with alcoholism throughout his life and later won the battle 7 years ago. His courage and determination were unmatched even as he went on to face many more health challenges. He fought his battles with grace, humor, and gratitude while most importantly leaning into his faith. Buck will be greatly missed by all those he left behind, but heaven is rejoicing as he reunites with Jesus, his parents and all of his siblings.
Robert’s wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life was held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Olde Crowe Winery, Clinton, MO.
