Lady Cards Softball Gets Back To .500 With Win Over Lexington

The Lady Cardinals softball team got back to even on the season with a 14-2 win at Lexington on Monday night.
Clinton trailed 1-0 after one but tied things in the third on a Lexi Barnhart triple that scored Alexis Fowler to make it 1-1.
The Lady Cards added 3 runs in the fourth, 4 in the fifth, and 3 more in each of the sixth and seventh for the 14-2 win.
Kennison Crispi led Clinton with 4 hits while Barnhart, Maddie Hess and Taryn Mantonya all had 3.
Mackenzie Shortino, Mantonya and Austin all had stolen bases.
Kenadie Austin got the win in the circle for the Lady Cardinals. She went all 7 innings and yielded 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 7 and walking none.

Clinton played at the Lady Pirate Leadoff Classic on Saturday and, after losing their first two games to Boonville and Smith-Cotton, salvaged the day with a win over Wright City.
To start the day, the Lady Cardinals fell to Boonville with a 5-3 final.
The Lady Pirates led, 3-0 after three but Clinton put 2 on the board in the top of the fourth to pull within 1. Boonville tacked on 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 5-2 and the Lady Cards could only slide 1 across in the top of the seventh before falling, 5-3.
Barnhart, Natalie Golder, Austin, Jordan Schmedding, Hess and Mantonya all had 1 hit.
Hess also took the loss for Clinton while Austin worked in relief.

Smith-Cotton jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first and tacked on 3 in the second, 6 in the third and 4 more in the fourth to make easy work of the Lady Cardinals as they went down in defeat, 15-1 to the Lady Tigers.
Austin and Schmedding managed the only 2 hits for Clinton.
Mantonya absorbed the loss in the circle.

In their last game of the day, the Lady Cards bounced back to beat Wright City with an 11-8 final in comeback fashion.
Wright City held a 6-2 lead after four innings but the Lady Cards rallied for 5 in the fifth and 3 in the sixth to take a 10-7 lead. One run for each side made the final, 11-8.
Barnhart, Golder and Crispi all racked up 3 hits for the Lady Cardinals while Schmedding had 2.
Austin picked up the win for Clinton.

The Lady Cardinals went to Sherwood on Tuesday night. That result will be in next week's edition of the Clinton Daily Democrat.
