Clinton Christian Academy made a significant stride in preparing its students for college admissions on Monday, Sept. 9, as the school held its inaugural ACT Workshop, led by retired educator, Sherri DeHart. The event, which saw the participation of 20 eager students, was a testament to the academy’s commitment to academic excellence and college readiness.
Sherri DeHart, a retired teacher with decades of experience in education, brought her extensive knowledge and passion for teaching to the workshop, providing students with invaluable insights into the ACT exam. Her guidance covered a range of topics, including test-taking strategies, time management, and specific subject-area reviews. DeHart’s expertise was especially noted for her ability to explain the test, offering students a clearer understanding of the format and content.
The benefits of the workshop were evident in the feedback from students. Attendees praised the workshop for its comprehensive approach and practical advice. “Mrs. DeHart is an energetic teacher that really presented the ACT information well,” said senior participant Dakota Vallentine. Other students noted that they learned things about the ACT test they were not aware of from the workshop.
“Clinton Christian Academy is always looking for ways to support our students beyond the classroom,” said High School Principal, Becky Hyke. “This workshop is a perfect example of how the school goes the extra mile to ensure our children are well-prepared for their future.” The workshop was designed not only to improve students’ test scores but also to build their confidence and reduce test-related stress. By focusing on practical skills and offering personalized feedback, the workshop aimed to equip students with the tools they need to succeed.
Clinton Christian Academy hopes to continue offering such workshops in the future, with the goal of further enhancing its students’ academic readiness. The success of the first workshop underscores the school’s dedication to providing a robust support system for students as they navigate the path to higher education. As the academic year progresses, Clinton Christian Academy remains committed to fostering an environment where students can thrive both academically, personally and spiritually, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
