Montrose's 150th Anniversary Calls For Community Celebration!

Posted

It seems like everyone agreed: “It is nice to see everyone out, in groups, and gathering together again.” That was the general sentiment from the folks at the Montrose Parade on Saturday, May 29. This is the 30th year the parade has been held over the Memorial Day weekend in Montrose, but the town is celebrating 150 years.
There were about 30 entries – the funniest of which was probably the Class of ’76 who did their best to go through the parade route twice. Actually, they were going through a third time well after the parade ended. One of the class members could even be heard: “We’re going through a third time!” as the trailer rounded the corner headed back down the main parade street.
The Home Town Heroes nominated were Sandra and Shawn Brownsberger. Parade entries included the Fire Department, Junior Fire Fighters, St. Mary’s School, the Montrose Busy Beavers, some classic cars, tractors, previous class graduates of Montrose High School, and some Appleton City entries. A classic car show and booths were available for folks to stroll around and view before and after the parade.
Among the parade participants was KC Wolf, who took the opportunity to get as many pictures with folks as he could: he even got a picture with a dog or two and, of course, lots of kids.
